Proposed Marlboro Church Covenant

Purpose: The purpose of this covenant is to allow for a
clearer understanding of what it means to be a member of
the Marlboro Seventh Day Baptist Church. It is not meant
to be a set of rules to be followed; rather, it is a guide to
working together to expand the Kingdom of God. It is a set
of promises that we make to each other and to ourselves so
that God’s love is evident in us as we work together. We
understand that none of this is possible without the bond
that we have as children of God through the sacrifice of
Jesus Christ and the power given to us through the Holy
Spirit.
It is only a proposal to be considered. A copy with the
references expanded is available.

Proposed Marlboro Church Covenant

● We agree to keep the commandments of God and to live with
Jesus Christ as the Lord of our lives. (James 1:22, 2 Chronicles
7:14, 1 Peter 4:1-3)
● We will seek to proclaim and to share the gospel of Christ before
our family, friends, neighbors, and others. (Matthew 28:18 – 20)
● We will meet together regularly for worship, prayer, and
fellowship. (Hebrews 10:23-25)
● We will strive to work together in unity and love setting aside our
selfish ambitions. (Psalms 133:1, Romans 15:5-7)
● We will rejoice with those who rejoice and endeavor with
tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and
sorrows. (Matthew 5:4,1 John 3:16 -18)
● We agree to prayerfully watch over and help each other in
kindness, so we may build up each other in Christ and grace.
(1 Thessalonians 5:11)
● We will not judge others or cause others to stumble but make
every effort to do what leads to peace and mutual edification.
(Rom. 14:13-19, Col. 3:15, Matt. 18:15-17)
● We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of our
local church, the care of our members, and the spread of the
gospel. (2 Corinthians 9:7)
